Calling budding photographers from all over the world!

This is YOUR chance to win a trip to Ethiopia to attend an amazing photography workshop.

A picture speaks a thousand words. So can you tell us what you think about children’s rights in a photo?

To celebrate the anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child the Sony World Photography Awards and UNICEF have launched an exciting global competition for young people!

Competition winners will attend an award ceremony in Cannes where they will receive the prestigious best photography award and their images will be featured in the World Photography Awards book.

But this is just the beginning! The six young winners will also travel to Ethiopia for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend a photographic workshop with acclaimed photographer Reza Deghati.

So, how do I enter?

  • Decide which aspect of children’s right you’re going to focus on from the following:
      survival
      education
      health
      be heard
      protection from harm, abuse and exploitation
    • Take a photo that represents your chosen right.
    • Write a pledge to accompany the photo. 

    Upload your image and pledge by midnight GMT 28 February 2010.

    Here’s the small print (this is the short version, for more information please visit the Sony World Photography website).

    • Deadline for submission is midnight GMT 28 February
    • The competition is open to young people from all over the world aged 12 - 18
    • You can only enter one photo!
    • The winners will be selected by a jury of famous photographers.  
    • The awards ceremony will take place in Cannes in April 2010 (date to be confirmed).
    • Six young people will travel to Ethiopia on a Sony funded mission to take part in the EYE SEE Workshop.
