Join the Children’s Commissioner’s Children and Young People Advisory Group!

The Office of the Children’s Commissioner and the Diana Award are offering you the opportunity to be part of the Children and Young People Advisory Group for England.

This fantastic opportunity, launched by the Children's Commissioner, Maggie Atkinson, makes sure that adults in charge listen to your views! They are looking to get eager young people like you to advise the Children’s Commissioner and her Office.

Every young person has the right to have their voice heard about issues which affect them.

There are eighteen places to fill from across England with applications open to any enthusiastic young person aged 8-18 years (up to 21 for those in care or with learning disabilities). If you are keen to represent young people and get your voice heard, then this position is for you!

The Advisory Group will meet with Maggie Atkinson five times a year to:

  • Advise on specific areas of her work
  • Give her the views of children and young people from different local areas

In return, Advisory Group members will get:

  • To contribute to policies and decisions that affect the lives of all children
  • Training in public speaking, media and research skills
  • To meet other amazing children and young people from across the country
  • To meet with the Commissioner at her London-based office with travel expenses paid

To apply all you need to do is email the address below and say why you want to be a part of this amazing new opportunity. You should say how you can contribute to the Advisory Group and should send pictures (JPEG format), posters or paintings, video clips (in a AVI, MAV, MPEG format), voice pops or a write up about yourself and what you will bring to the board. Applications close at 5pm on the 31 August 2010, and no applications will be accepted by the Diana Award after this time.
