Rhiannon says: 'A fun way to bring sexual protection to the masses at the same time as raising funds.'

For the cupcake:

2 large eggs, cracked open
1 tsp vanilla essence
125g/4oz caster sugar
125g/4oz soft margarine
125g/4oz self-raising flour

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees/ gas mark 4/ 350 f
  2. Mix all the ingredients together
  3. Line a baking tray with cupcake cases and half fill
  4. Bake for around 20 minutes until they are light brown in colour and springy to touch.
  5. Allow to cool

For the icing:

4 oz / 125 g icing sugar
4 oz / 125 g butter
1 tsp vanilla essence
a few drops of food colouring

  1. Beat the butter in a lare bowl until soft
  2. Slowly add the icing sugar and vanilla essence until it's all mixed in
  3. Add a few drops of food colouring at a time until you get your desired shade.
  4. Once the mixture is smooth spread it across the cakes
  5. Make a slit in the cakes and put in the condom (It is important to leave the wrapper on!!). It's also a good idea to make sure the condom wrappers are clean.

Top Tips

  • Be creative: you can add chocolate chips, raisins, or use different icing types to make the cakes more exciting.
  • You can also use different colours to colour co-ordinate with your condoms of choice.
  • If you're doing a mass batch then double up on quantities.
  • To get free condoms for the cakes try asking your local sexual health clinic or applying to a condom manufacturer for sponsorship.
  • Make sure when selling that your punters know the condoms are not edible - this could be messy!
  • And sell sell sell cake and sexual protection, what more could you want?

  • This is an awesome idea :D Most young people are too nervous or embarrassed to go out and buy condoms, and end up with STD's but this is a really positive way of letting young people have access to condoms - people won't be shy to buy and eat them!
