Judging
25. There are three judging stages for the Big Climate Callout Competition – public vote, shortlist and selection day:
26. All entries will be assessed and voted on by the general public on YouTube. This will assist UNICEF UK to draw up a shortlist of applicants to attend the selection day. UNICEF UK will take into account the public vote as well as employing the criteria outlined below to create the shortlist. Please remember that we are putting together a team of four people – so we will be looking for a variety of different skills and experiences.
27. Judging criteria:

  • Evident passion about climate change
  • Imaginative, innovative and solutions-oriented ideas about how young people can take action on climate change
  • Fresh ideas about actions world leaders can take
  • Clear commitment to taking action before and after the Children's Climate Forum.
  • Preference given for applications that are obviously supported by a peer group, youth group, school or any other network that can help the applicant implement their ideas and take action after the Children's Climate Forum.
  • Evidence of commitment to social justice
  • Preference for individuals who are active members of local volunteering organisations or already active in their school or community.
  • We will put together a diverse team of people from across the UK and will make every effort to ensure the final team will work well together and will consist of varying experiences and skills.

28. Entries will be rejected if they are regarded as defamatory, obscene, racist, sexist, offensive or inappropriate in any other way.
29. The judges' decision is final. There is no right of appeal against that decision and no correspondence will be entered into further to the decision.
30. The short-listed individuals will be contacted via their You Tube email accounts on Wednesday 22nd July to confirm their attendance to the selection day. The list of short-listed individuals will be posted on YouTube no later than Friday 24th July 2009.
