UNICEF has a long history of support from celebrities and high profile supporters. They play a vital role in promoting UNICEF and helping us to raise money.

UNICEF's high profile celebrity supporters are in a fantastic position to focus the world's attention on the needs of children. They enable us to reach a wider audience, which helps highlight the work we do to improve the lives of the most vulnerable children around the world.

All of our high profile celebrity supporters have been appointed because they have already demonstrated a commitment to UNICEF's work. They dedicate time and energy to UNICEF in a variety of ways: visiting projects in the field and emergency situations, speaking to the media about what they have seen, or lobbying and raising money on our behalf.

Watch Ralph Fiennes make a promise to children.

Last year's Soccer Aid saw Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Redknapp, Alan Shearer and more battle it out on the football pitch raising over £1.4 million.

All of our High Profile Supporters and Ambassadors are active supporters of our Unite for Children, Unite against AIDS campaign. David Beckham, Robbie Williams, Ewan McGregor, Claudia Schiffer and Jemima Khan are among the stars doing their bit to help children affected by HIV and AIDS. Ewan, for example, went out to Malawi to see for himself how childhoods are being destroyed by HIV and AIDS. He said: "A sick child. An orphaned child. A child caring for his dying parent. A child growing up alone, growing up too soon, or not growing up at all. It needn't be like that. No matter who you are or what you do, this campaign matters." Check out a video from his trip.

Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman first went the Long Way Round in 2004, and then the Long Way Down through Africa in 2007, visiting UNICEF projects along the way.
